Why Choose Montessori

Montessori is an educational method created by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian doctor from the late 1800s. She discovered that learning through experience leads to a deeper understanding across many areas such as mathematics, science, language, and social interactions. The environment is structured for each child to make her/his own choices in learning as the trained guide (teacher) provides age appropriate activities to guide them through the process.

Each material in the Montessori classroom is made to support appropriate child development based on the child’s interests and abilities. It promotes independence and curiosity for learning through experience. Montessori classrooms are set up to be self-directed for the individual child where she/he can experience hands-on activities and also learn through collaborative play. The Montessori method sees each child as unique with a unique way of learning, unique interests, and individual developmental timeline.
